The Princess of Wales will be presented the Primo Tricolore award which is the City’s highest honour from the Mayor as a mark of recognition for her work in early childhood development
and children wellbeing. The award, which celebrates the historic birthplace of the Italian flag, is being bestowed for several specific reasons related to her visit. The award recognises Catherine’s role in promoting high-quality initiatives for the well-being of children and families through the Royal Foundation. Her decision to visit Reggio Emilia is seen by local leaders as a significant validation of the city’s world-renowned “Reggio Emilia Approach” to education. The city is honouring her commitment to exploring how human connection and nature support child development, which aligns with the city’s own educational philosophy. The award serves as a gesture of civic pride and hospitality to celebrate her first official overseas working visit in over three years.
