:My Journey into Doll Collecting:

I began collecting dolls at the age of 10, thanks to my grandmothers and aunt,

who always made sure I received a doll for my birthdays and Christmas.

In 1985, I received my very first royal paper doll of Diana, created by Golden Books.

It wasn’t until 1998 that I truly started to focus on my doll collection and define the types of dolls I wanted to collect.

The internet and the Franklin Mint opened my eyes to an entire new world of fashionable dolls and their vinyl dolls .

Diana marked the beginning of my collection, and over the years, I added more members of the royal family to it.

In 1997, when my daughter was born, I wanted to share my passion for doll collecting with her. We began with the usual options—Barbies and baby dolls—but I didn’t feel a connection to them. I realized that for our collection to hold meaning, the dolls needed to be special. On August 31st, the world mourned the loss of Diana, Princess of Wales. One afternoon, I received a brochure about the Vinyl Diana Doll that the Franklin Mint was producing in her honor. I recognized this as my opportunity to start a historic collection for my daughter. I didn’t buy the vinyl doll immediately; I wanted to visit the Franklin Mint store to see it for myself.  I inquired about the vinyl Diana, but unfortunately, they didn’t have any in stock. However, they did have several porcelain dolls. I chose the Princess of Style Diana Doll. From that point on, I purchased the Vinyl Diana, along with her outfits and a collector’s trunk. Many of our original pieces were lost during our various moves over the years, so in 2022, I decided to begin recollecting the Diana series I originally started and expanded the collection to include other royals. Today, I am sharing this collection with my granddaughter; it looks like Diana and the Royals will be a part of our family for a little longer.

 * So yes the cute picture you see  with the lil girl with the Diana dolls come up in the search for Diana dolls is infact my daugther 🙂
