The newlyweds saddled up for a horseback riding excursion, a hobby that the bride said Spencer encouraged her to try during a difficult time

On May 20, the younger brother of the late Princess Diana gave a glimpse into his honeymoon after marrying Professor Cat Jarman in a private ceremony in Arizona last week.
“Honeymooning,” the 9th Earl Spencer, 61, wrote over footage on his Instagram Stories, set to the song “Desert Roads” by MrQBan.
The quick clip captured from the back of a horse showed Charles horseback riding through a canyon behind his bride during a trail ride.

In November 2025, Jarman wrote online that Spencer encouraged her to take up horseback riding as a “distraction” as she navigated a multiple sclerosis diagnosis.

“We both feel so incredibly lucky to have progressed from being colleagues, to friendship, to deep love and connection,” the couple said in a joint statement shared with PEOPLE. “Each stage of our relationship has been underpinned by laughter and we share a passion for life.”

Photos shared from their special day showed the pair posing close and holding hands, with Sedona’s iconic Cathedral Rock in the background.
The marriage is the fourth for Spencer, an author and historian, and the second for Jarman, a fellow author and academic specializing in Vikings.
The couple connected after Spencer was asked to review Jarman’s 2021 nonfiction bestseller River Kings and they continued to work together, collaborating on archaeological digs and launching the podcast The Rabbit Hole Detectives with Rev. Richard Coles.

Spencer publicly confirmed their romance in October 2024 after several months after announcing that June that he and his third wife, Canadian philanthropist Karen Spencer, were divorcing after nearly 13 years of marriage. The pair share a daughter Charlotte Diana, 13, named in tribute to his late sister, and Charlotte is the youngest of his seven children from his first two marriages.
Charles and Karen’s split turned acrimonious after Jarman filed a lawsuit against Karen in October 2024. The archaeologist alleged misuse of private information and claimed that Countess Spencer allegedly disclosed her MS diagnosis, which she had kept private until then.
For her part, Karen accused Spencer of having a “long-term” affair with Jarman in December 2024 court filings, which Spencer and Jarman “categorically” denied.
